Before and after side by side of grown out hair color transformed using gray blending color technique.
Gray hair blending transformation on dark hair: before and after highlighting improved texture and dimension.

Throughout my career I’ve had clients totally freak out when they spot one or two gray hairs and immediately want to slap on some permanent color to cover their shiny whites. From my stylist point of view, it feels like such a bummer to mess with healthy, virgin hair just to hide a few gray strands. Let me be honest, coloring hair always comes with some level of damage, whether you’re using bleach or going darker. Plus I think gray hairs get a bad rap! They actually grow in strong and can be a bit coarser, which means they’re pretty good quality hair that deserve to be embraced.

As I started to realize that permanent hair color isn't the only way to tackle the gray, my mind opened up to all sorts of creative hairstyles that have helped my clients embrace their unwanted grays. Gray hair blending has become my go-to method for camouflaging gray while creating beautiful, shiny styles that my clients can feel great about with minimal upkeep. Each client’s starting point offers a ton of possibilities for styles that fit them perfectly. Your natural gray pattern can actually inspire different looks that enhance your gorgeous, sparkling hair!
